If you were to ask me 4 years ago if I was to attend a networking seminar in the heart of Detroit in the Compuware Headquarters I might have laughed and retorted with sarcasm. Furthermore the concept of the business card was something I overlooked– my first business card is an experiment. Now on this very business card I had to share my motto in life. Ego precedes dreams then with action the reality is delivered- sort of unconventional for a business card. Quite frankly it is, my philosophy behind this is; as a recruiter you are looking for someone to contribute to the company and be a team member. “Employees” are something of the past, they steal, come in late, shirk responsibility and are just there to collect a salary and gossip about the firm’s short comings.
The phrase translates to drive, ambition, confidence and optimism. Personal branding is almost always necessary- image is everything. Do you have a business card? What does it say? Does it reflect your personal brand? I believe every member of a firm should have their own customized version of the company’s card, but you must be careful not to hinder the company’s brand or message. After all you are an extension of that companies marketing efforts just as an employee.
Wouldn’t you feel more attention would be given to you by a firm if you realized that each person that gave you a business card had it customized personally. It would say a lot about public relations, wouldn’t it? Competence determines if you keep your job, presentation, image along with the resume` determines if you get the opportunity to compete in the race. It wouldn’t hurt to invest in a tie or ”the one good pair of pants” to accent your resume` and enthusiasm.
Just remember your personal brand.

You should, its going through a transformation stage right now. good place for a young professional with this tough economy.
Ya that’s what I have heard. I was playing with the idea of moving out there but my wife put an end to that in a hurry! lol. I still hold the dream though haha. I don’t know what it is, but I feel like that city is just calling for me haha.
The media did a real good job of tearing down it’s image. If you are a coming to this city with the right qualifications and attitude, you can make it what you want. But without a degree or some assets to bring over here, its gonna be rough. Not a place to start from the ground up if you know what i mean.
